Vidya’s Monday Meditation
A mental exercise to regain focus

Here are 4 really quick games to help you change channels in your brain and return your focus to the task at hand.
- Pick up an object, any object. Describe it in detail. (Color, texture, size, weight, scent, etc.)
- Count 1 to 100, saying buzz for every multiple of 7. That’s 1,2,3,4,5,6,buzz,8,9,10,11,12,13,buzz and so on. If you have a partner, it is even more fun, especially with kids, because there will be laughter — good for the soul.
- Spell your name backwards. To make it even more interesting, spell the names of three other people backwards, too.
- Think of an object. Now draw it in your mind, or in the air with your finger. In detail.
Do more like this — it’s fun!
Vidya’s Thursday Tip
To channel your efforts from reaction to response
When you face a challenge or want to appreciate a moment of joy, it helps to take an intentional pause.
Do this:
Pause: stop what you are doing.
Breathe: take slow deep breaths.
Observe: your body’s sensations, thoughts, emotions.
Name: what you observed. No explanations.
Proceed: carry on with your day.
Repeat this process as often as you need.
You will feel calmer and be more present in the moment.
