Shavasana — Source

Also called Shavasana.

  • Find a place where you can lay down comfortably without being interrupted.
  • Lay on your back. Let your legs and feet separate naturally. Let your arms relax at your sides.
  • If you wish, you may close your eyes
  • Allow yourself to rest, knowing that the ground is supporting you.
  • You don’t have to fall asleep. Just give your mind and body a chance to let go of tension and reduce your mental and physical stress.
  • After two minutes, you may gently move again and continue with your day.

Feel free to teach this to kids you know and have them join you.

Vidya’s Monday Meditation

Here are 4 really quick games to help you change channels in your brain and return your focus to the task at hand.

  • Pick up an object, any object. Describe it in detail. (Color, texture, size, weight, scent, etc.)
  • Count 1 to 100, saying buzz for every multiple of 7. That’s 1,2,3,4,5,6,buzz,8,9,10,11,12,13,buzz and so on. If you have a partner, it is even more fun, especially with kids, because there will be laughter — good for the soul.
  • Spell your name backwards. To make it even more interesting, spell the names of three other people backwards, too.
  • Think of an object. Now draw it in your mind, or in the air with your finger. In detail.
