I had a tendency to do this, Vishnu--being the rescuer/saver. I think for me perhaps it came from growing up being involved in a household where there was constant caregiving. Just can't resist reaching out to someone who seems like they need help. I guess being a good listener also plays a role in people wanting to offload on you. And if in the past, no one else has bothered to spend the time listening to them, they imagine that they are attracted to you. Being a natural problem-solver is not easy. I recall one of my boyfriends even telling me that it was annoying how I could always find the solution to an issue. We argued about it and he actually told me that men like women they can protect. Needless to say we broke up. I don't have additional suggestions -- I like what you said. But I have learned one thing - self-care is crucial and boundaries, even more important. Great read, Vishnu.
