My favorite pet-hate is when people argue with me over their wrong usage of your and you're and similar things. And yes, I face what you've listed too. That snootiness, that one-up ness is so annoying. And yes, I agree with you, being multilingual myself, that these holier-than-thous would never be able to repeat even half-verbatim what we say in the other languages we know 💜
