Oh Ali! Little do people realize the impact their words can have, sometimes lifelong. I struggle with some statements fed to me during my childhood and later, too. Overcoming those feelings, trying not to burrow into that space in shame, then realizing that's not the truth--so hard. While we may carry on with life seemingly normally, that inner child is so vulnerable. Ruiz's book is fantastic and healing.
