The rules of engagement seem to change between November and January. We are expected to act like we don’t see the behavior of the alcoholic parent, the wayward sister, or the creepy uncle. “Just let it go,” we’re told, “It’s Christmas. Can’t we all get along and be happy for one day of the year?”
