My weekly roundup of inspiring reads — 7

We’ve had lovely weather this past week with quite a few thunderstorms. And although we had some doctors’ visits lined up, I was thrilled that we always managed to get home just before the rain started — just in time to grab ourselves a cup of hot coffee and count our blessings!

With each outing, I managed to add a few chores we could finish on the way back home and it felt almost normal — even though we’ll be wearing masks and following social distance for a long time to come.

But you know what made me really happy? That the street vendors I usually meet on the way home recognized me even with my mask on. How lovely is that!

With the week’s long to-do list, I worried that I might not be able to read as much as I’d like — but thanks to waiting time and mobile internet, I enjoyed more reading time than I could imagine. Of course, commenting via the phone is tough because autocorrect will destroy me — so I contented myself with reading and clapping.

Here are some of this week’s great reads on Medium! Enjoy!

Barbara Dalton’s post about being a nail nibbler hit somewhat close to home. *guilty*

Srini’s post had me laughing hard.

Ali Hall’s post will make you take a long hard look at your friendships.

dirk beens’s post about emotional blackmail was like a gut punch.

Trista Signe Ainsworth’s post asks a powerful question at the end.

In his post, Vishnu*s Virtues asks: Are you a saver or rescuer when it comes to dating?

Sandra Pawula asks: Does the idea of sitting still for any length of time disconcert you?

I am in the process of creating a tiny balcony garden and found JM Heatherly’s post about when to water your garden, and what are some clever ways to do so useful.

I enjoyed Jen Gippel PhD’s writing tips — especially #4 — about how to connect with your readers emotionally.

Cathy Taughinbaugh offers 3 powerful ways to be an effective parent.

A big shout-out to Annelise Lords for her lovely comments!

Evelyn Lim’s post provides some great insights into how to heal childhood trauma.

To wrap up, inspiration from Zeenat Merchant Syal, M.A, M.Sc through movie quotes!

I wish you a lovely week ahead! ❤
