There was no medal for Last Place, but there was a sense of achievement in finishing last. Only one person gets the final glory. Didn’t I get the biggest applause? That’s because the other swimmers had time to warm up, dress, eat lots of free snacks, and rest after their swim — they had energy to clap. What I lack in speed, I make up with perseverance — and a sense of humor.
